French first division team Sedan sacked coach Alex Dupont today after they lost 4-0 to Czech side Pribram in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.

"Club president Pascal Urano told me I was dismissed after a brief meeting. I'm paying for the UEFA Cup loss," said Dupont, who took over at Sedan for the beginning of the 2000-01 season.

"Our start to the season was normal. It's frustrating and disappointing", Dupont added on French television.

Dupont, who shot to fame by leading second division Gueugnon to the League Cup title in 2000, will be replaced by assistant Henri Stambouli.

Sedan are 11th out of 18 in the French first division.
