A Scot who is serving a life sentence for a sectarian murder in Glasgow is due to be transferred to prison in Northern Ireland to join loyalist prisoners in the Maze.
The request for the transfer, which is supported by the Progressive Unionist Party (PUP), was condemned by the British Labour MP, Mr George Galloway. He described the prisoner, Jason Campbell, as an "evil cut-throat".
Campbell has served two years of a life sentence for stabbing to death 16-year-old Mark Scott. He cut his throat as the youth was walking along a busy Glasgow street in broad daylight. Scott was murdered because he was wearing a Celtic jersey.
Two members of Campbell's extended family served prison sentences for involvement with the UVF, which the PUP represents politically.
Loyalists are also seeking the transfer from Scottish jails of six other prisoners. Campbell has sought the transfer on the basis that he has family and friends in Northern Ireland.
