A second man is to appear in court this morning in connection with the finding of a man's body in a suitcase dumped in Dublin's Royal Canal in July.

The man, a Latvian in his 30s, was arrested in Dublin city centre at 5 a.m. on Saturday and taken to Mountjoy Garda station where he was detained under the Criminal Justice Act.

He is to appear in Dublin District Court today to face an assault charge in connection with the investigation into the death of Mr Adrian Bestea (21), a Romanian, whose body was found in a suitcase near Binn's Bridge in the canal on July 20th.

Another man is already in custody charged with assault causing harm arising out of the same incident. On Friday Mr Igor Derjhack (28), a Ukrainian with an address at Mountjoy Square, Dublin, was charged with assault causing harm to Mr Bestea at a flat on Strand Road, Sandymount, on July 8th. He is to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
