The seven seats on the Seanad Public Administration panel have been filled today on the fourth day of counting in the elections.
Fianna Fáil secured four seats for Mr Camillus Glynn, Mr Timmy Dooley, Mr Tony Kett and Mr Diarmad Wilson. Mr Frank Feehan and Mr Joe McHugh also secured election for Fine Gael. Labour's Ms Joanna Tuffy took the final seat.
Fine Gael's Ms Frances Fitzgerald and Fianna Fail's Ms Marian Magennis, who both lost their Dáil seats in the last general election, failed in their bids to get elected to the Seanad.
All seats on the Industrial and Commercial panel were filled early this morning with disappointment for a number of former TDs and senators.
Former junior minister Dr Tom Moffat and former Fine Gael deputy Ms Deirdre Clune were both unsuccessful.
However, among those elected were former Labour finance spokesman, Mr Derek McDowell and Fianna Fáil candidates Mr Marc McSharry and Mr Kieran Phelan.
From Fine Gael, Ms Sheila Terry and Mr Paul Coghlan were among those elected.
