Scottish police have charged three men with terrorist-related offencesfollowing a series of raids earlier this week.

The three men, aged 35, 32 and 18, were arrested on Thursdayin western Scotland and police said they had been held sincethen under the sweeping powers of the Terrorism Act, 2000.

"The three men... have now been charged withterrorist-related offences and will appear from custody atKilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday 4 August 2003," Strathclydepolice said in a statement.

A spokeswoman declined to give any further details.

British police have arrested more than 300 people underanti-terror legislation since the September 11 attacks on theUnited States, but few have been charged and even fewer triedand convicted.
