Scotland are set to meet Argentina in a friendly as part of the South American team's World Cup preparations.

The Argentine FA are keen to play at Hampden Park in the lead up to the World Cup next year as they see Scotland as a similar side to Group F rivals England.

Argentina and England were also paired with Sweden and Nigeria in the group section of the tournament in Japan and South Korea next summer.

But Argentine FA spokesman Louis Castro believes that a game against Scotland could be perfect preparation for the match against Sven-Goran Eriksson's side.

Castro told the Daily Record: "It is a strong possibility that we will try to play a game against Scotland because they play in a similar fashion to England".
