A voluntary social worker will bring two tonnes of food to Britain next month to help the homeless Irish on the streets of London. Mr Seamus McGuire of the Youth In Need Organisation in Thurles said that the food will be distributed by a soup van and it is vital during the winter months.

"The food van will cater for 120 homeless people a night in London. On each soup run 400 sandwiches and 15 gallons of tea, coffee and soup will be distributed and it has all been sponsored in Ireland," said Mr McGuire. He was honoured by former president Mrs Mary Robinson for his work for deprived young Irish emigrants in Britain.
