Washington - A US satellite detected a bright flash off the Atlantic coast of Africa last Saturday where US and German military aircraft are believed to have collided in flight, the US Defence Department said yesterday. A spokesman said the US plane carrying nine crew, believed to have collided over the Atlantic at about 11,600 metres with a German aircraft carrying 24 people, was not officially reported missing until 20 hours after it took off.
