One of the men at the centre of the controversy that led to the ministerial resignation of Trevor Sargent TD will appear in court in three weeks after his appeal was adjourned yesterday.

Stephen Mulvany (35), Cardy Rock Square, Balbriggan, Co Dublin, is appealing his District Court conviction for threatening and abusive behaviour and assault. Mulvany was convicted in March of assaulting Dominic McGowan (37), Cardy Rock Close, in September 2007, and was sentenced to four months. He has not been imprisoned pending appeal.

Both McGowan and Mulvany were convicted and fined €500 for threatening and abusive behaviour relating to the same September 2007 incident.

Mulvany’s appeal hearing was mentioned yesterday at the Dublin Circuit Court, and adjourned until March 25th.
