Madrid - The decision by the political arm of the ETA Basque separatist group to change its name, before regional elections, was greeted with derision yesterday by major Spanish parties.

The party, 23 of whose leading members were jailed last year for collaborating with an armed organisation, has said it would run under the name of Euskal Herritarrok (EH, Basque Citizens) in October's polls. "These are just the same dogs with different collars," was how the Basque leader of the conservative Popular Party (PP) reacted.
