BAGHDAD - President Saddam Hussein said yesterday Iraq's ties with the United Nations could reach a deadlock if the Security Council did not take measures to lift trade sanctions.

In a three-hour televised address marking the July 17th revolution that brought his ruling Baath party to power 29 years ago, President Saddam said Iraq had honoured its obligations and demanded the UN to reciprocate.- (Reuter)
