RYANAIR PASSENGERS to the Canary Islands will continue to pay higher baggage charges introduced for the summer months, even though the charges are being reduced in September for all other routes.

Ryanair yesterday announced that checked-in bag fees for most routes would return to €15 per bag from September 1st, instead of the €20 charge imposed during July and August. The charge for heavy bags drops to €25 from the summer tariff of €30.

However, the airline said higher summertime charges are not being reduced for flights to the Canary Islands. A spokesman claimed almost 70 per cent of passengers would not be affected as they did not check in baggage.
