Motorists have been warned of road closures this evening because of gorse fires.
AA roadwatch said the road between Sallygap and Lara Village in Co Wicklow is closed due to multiple fires, one of which is very close to the road. Gardai are at the scene redirecting traffic after closing the road at 6.15pm. The road is expected to stay closed until at least tomorrow.
In Galway, the N84 Headford Road was closed between Carundulla and Clonboo from 4.30pm until 7pm because of a bogfire. Visibility is said to be still bad and drivers have been urged to use their dipped headlights and slow down.
Main Street, Kinlough, Co Leitrim on the R280 is also closed due to a building fire. Bundoran to Manorhamilton traffic on the R280 is being diverted until midnight tonight and the road may stay closed until tomorrow.
