A mother of three originally from the Burtonport area of west Donegal was killed in a car crash near Glenveagh National Park early yesterday.
The 38-year-old woman was in a car driven by her husband which crashed at the Churchill-Glenveagh junction about 10 miles from Letterkenny around 4 a.m. She has been named locally as Ms Mary Rose Connaghan.
The couple were returning to their home at Gartan from a wedding at nearby Termon at the time of the accident.
Her husband, Gerald, was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and discharged later in the day to be with his family.
A spokesman at the Garda Press Office said it appeared that the car left the road and hit a ditch at the junction.
Also yesterday, a male passenger was killed in a singlevehicle incident in Dublin, when the car in which he was travelling crashed at the Ballymun exit of the M50 motorway at 2.15 a.m. The driver was unhurt.
