Gardaí are treating as suspicious a fire at apartment complex in south county Dublin in which residents were forced to evacuate their homes.

The fire broke out in an underground car park in Carrigmore Crescent in Saggart some time before 3am.

Gardaí are investigating the possibility that three vehicles were set alight deliberately.

Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene and managed to get the blaze under control before residents were allowed to return to their homes.
