Full-time reserve police officers in Northern Ireland have been guaranteed jobs for the next three years, it was confirmed today.

A resource package agreed by Chief Constable Hugh Orde and his policing board has agreed to keep the 2,000 men and women for front line duties until April 2005.

Mr Orde said: "These officers were uncertain about their future. What we have delivered today is certainty."
