Panmunjom - North Korea yesterday returned a casket believed to contain the remains of a US soldier killed during the 1950-1953 Korean War, a spokesman for the UN Command said.
The remains were recovered through the border village of Panmunjom by a joint USNorth Korean team searching for the remains of Western soldiers who died in the North, he said. North Korean guards handed over the aluminium casket to UN Command honour guards, witnesses said. The remains are to be shipped to the US for laboratory tests to identify the body, the spokesman said.
