The director of the Iraqi Red Crescent in the northern city of Arbil and his wife have been murdered.
Hawar al-Ghafouri, Red Crescent operations director in the north, said the burned bodies of Barazan Mohammed Ahmed and his wife had been found dumped in a street in the city of Mosul, west of Arbil.
Ahmed and his wife, who also worked for the Red Crescent, had been missing since Wednesday. They had gone to Mosul on a work-related trip, Ghafouri said today.
