BrazzavillE - Rebels in the Congo Republic (Brazzaville) have abducted 53 people from a village in the troubled region south-west of the capital Brazzaville, officials said yesterday.
Ninja rebels loyal to the ousted prime minister, Mr Bernard Kolelas, attacked the village of Oka in the Plateaux region last week. Fifty-three villagers were rounded up and taken to Ninja rear bases in the Pool region adjoining Plateaux, the officials said.
