Gardaí in Cork were yesterday searching for a raider who held up security van staff with a sword and made off with up to €40,000.

The robbery took place at an ATM machine at Tesco in Wilton on Cork's southside at around 8.15am. He dropped the sword at the scene and fled on foot with a cash box.
