Gardaí in Gorey are investigating a shooting incident during an armed raid on a public house in Co Wicklow during the early hours of this morning.

A publican was shot during the raid at the Corner House Pub on Main Street in Carnew at around 2.30am.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was brought to Wexford General Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The injury is not life-threatening.

Three armed men entered the premises and fired a shot at the publican before fleeing the pub empty handed.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
