London - The mother of CJD victim, Mr Matthew Parker, handed in a petition signed by 5,500 people at 10 Downing Street calling for a public inquiry into the BSE crisis yesterday.

Last week a coroner recorded a verdict of misadventure on Mrs Doreen Parker's son, saying he probably caught CJD - the human equivalent of BSE - from eating beef contaminated with the mad cow disease.
