Residents of a predominantly Protestant area at one end of Garvaghy Road, Portadown, Co Armagh, have applied to the Northern Ireland Office to have a so-called "peace line" erected in their area. High walls have been built in many parts of Belfast to separate nationalist and loyalist areas. Residents of Park Road say their homes have been attacked by nationalists living nearby. The NIO said it had received requests for a peace line from elected representatives in Portadown, and it was taking advice from the RUC.
