Islamabad - Afghanistan's Taliban movement and its opponents agreed yesterday to prolong a US-brokered truce, a day after accusing each other of starting fierce fighting close to Kabul.

Maulvi Fazl Hadi Shinwari, leader of the opposition northern alliance delegation, said yesterday's talks session in the capital of neighbouring Pakistan had made "much progress".
