Poll shows Mitchell and Brady ahead in Dublin

Fine Gael European election candidate Mr Gay Mitchell is set to top the poll in Dublin with rival Fianna Fáil candidate Mr Royston Brady a close second, a new opinion poll has shown.

The survey carried out for RTE's Prime Timeprogramme and the Irish Examinershows Mr Brady, Dublin Lord Mayor, at 16 per cent, while Mr Mitchell is just ahead on 17 per cent.

Of the four seats up for grabs in the capital the Green Party's Ms Patricia McKenna is tipped to retain her post in Europe, with 13 per cent of the vote.

Ms Ivana Bacik, the Labour candidate, is also in the scrap for the final seat with 11 per cent of the vote.
