Berlin - A majority of German voters do not expect the Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schroder, and his embattled Social Democrats to survive long in government, according to an opinion poll published yesterday. And if an election were held next week, the SPD would get 32.6 per cent of the vote, compared to the main conservative opposition party's 42.2 per cent, the Allensbach institute poll showed. Last September, the SPD won 40.9 per cent of the national vote to the CDU's 35.2 per cent.
