Warsaw - A new Polish right-wing group announced plans yesterday to campaign in this year's elections against the country's efforts to win EU membership.

The group, called Alternatywa (the Alternative), said it would oppose the view of mainstream parties that EU entry would benefit Poland. It hopes to win up to 20 per cent of the vote in elections due by October.
