Brussels - Prosecutors in the Belgian city of Tongeren said yesterday police had been ordered to question 1,500 former pupils of a religion teacher accused by another female ex-student of rape.

The Tongeren prosecutors' office said it had decided to question the former pupils to establish whether a now retired teacher, also a priest, had been involved in other sex abuse cases in the course of his long career at two girls' schools.
