A pipe bomb was thrown at a house in Northern Ireland, it was confirmed tonight.

A pipe bomb was thrown at a house in Northern Ireland, it was confirmed tonight.

The front window of the house in Durmalane, Newry, Co Down, was blown in and minor damage caused to a wall last night.

The householder heard a noise at his front door and was on his way to investigate when the device exploded.

There were no injuries in the incident.
