A pedestrian died today after being struck by a vehicle in Co Meath.

A pedestrian died today after being struck by a vehicle in Co Meath.

The man, who was in his 40s, was fatally injured when he was knocked down by a van on the M3 Dublin to Cavan route at about 6am.

The incident occurred near the Johnstown and Skreen exit of the motorway.

The road has been partly closed to allow a Garda forensic team examine the scene of the collision.

Gardai from Navan have appealed to any witnesses to contact Navan Garda station on (046) 9079930 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
