Passengers of budget airline, JetGreen Airways, have been left stranded  after the company  suspended operations at noon today.

The company which flies from Dublin to Alicante and Malaga announced it will meet with shareholders to consider winding up the company.

As the closure is from immediate effect , JetGreen said passengers booked on return flights to Dublin will have to "make their own alternative arrangements with other airlines/tour operators".

Passengers who have paid for their JetGreen flights by credit card should contact their card issuer who should arrange a full refund. Passengers who have taken out travel insurance should contact their insurer. Passengers who booked and paid through a travel agent for flights should contact the agent for advice, the company said in a statement.

The Commission for Aviation Regulation has been informed of the position.
