Islamabad - As India and Pakistan yesterday rehearsed their positions for next week's summit on Kashmir, Pakistan sought to overcome strong Indian objections to Gen Pervez Musharraf, the Pakistani leader, meeting Kashmiri separatist leaders during his summit visit to India. Pakistan said its ambassador in New Delhi would hold a reception for Gen Musharraf to which leaders of a Kashmiri separatist alliance were likely to be invited.

Meanwhile, an offer by Gen Musharraf to reach a "no war" pact with India was reasonable, Pakistani officials said, adding it was still on the table despite being reportedly rejected.
