Pakistan has frozen the bank accounts of two groups accused of involvement in terrorism, including Lashkar-i-Taiba which India has blamed for last week's attack on its parliament.

The United States has also frozen assets belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Pakistan-based Umma Tameer-e-Nau (UTN), which it said had provided nuclear arms data to suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden. "We have advised all the banks to freeze the accounts of these organisations," Pakistan's State Bank spokesman Sayed Wasimuddin said in a statement.

"The decision has been taken in view of the decision of United States government."
