Bratislava - The outgoing Slovak Prime Minister, Mr Vladimir Meciar, has resigned his parliamentary seat in favour of the former head of the security services, Mr Ivan Lexa. Mr Meciar was heavily defeated in a general election at the end of Sept ember and he and his party, the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia, had indicated that he would resign his seat at yesterday's opening session of parliament.
