Two Egyptians killed a Christian worshipper and wounded three others in knife attacks at two churches in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria today, security officials said.

Police officials, who said the two men were probably working together, were still searching for them after they fled the churches.

"A 67-year-old man was killed by an attacker in one of the churches and the other wounded three people in the other church," a police source said.

The security sources said Mahmoud Abdul Galil wounded the three people at Saint George's Church in an area of Alexandria known as Hadra. Alexandria was the scene of violent protests in October over a church play demonstrators said was offensive to Islam.

Three people died when the protesters clashed with police.
