O'Flaherty in print

The former High Court judge, Hugh O'Flaherty, is returning to one of his first vocations - journalism

The former High Court judge, Hugh O'Flaherty, is returning to one of his first vocations - journalism. He has agreed to write regularly for The Dubliner, and in its first edition, out on Tuesday, he contributes a book review on Ann Marie Hourihane's She Moves Through the Boom. He writes, apropos Eamon de Valera's vision of Ireland, that no one should look too fondly on the past.

The Dubliner is edited by Emily Hourican, daughter of the late Liam Hourican. She grew up in Brussels, where her father worked for the Commission after leaving RTE and the government press service. It will cover books, art, theatre, film, style and dining - 10 pages of restaurants each issue, says Hourican. She hopes O'Flaherty will be a star feature writer.
