Singer Sinead O’Connor is to marry her boyfriend Barry Herridge tomorrow in Las Vegas. The wedding will take place on O'Connor's 45th birthday.
She was interviewed on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show yesterday morning to promote her forthcoming album but did not reveal anything about the marriage.
However, she rang the show today to say her boyfriend had a “crisis of conscience” and urged her to announce the marriage.
"He loves your show. He said 'if this leaks out and Ian Dempsey asked you that question and you didn't tell him, he's going to shoot himself,'" she said.
Mr Herridge, who works as a children's addiction counsellor, will be the singer's fourth husband.
She split from her third husband, Steve Cooney, in March after eight months.
Her first marriage was to music producer John Reynolds, who co-produced several of her albums. Her second marriage was to journalist Nicholas Sommerlad in 2002. She has four children.
After her split with Cooney, the mother-of-four was open about looking for a partner, launching a campaign to find love online via Twitter. She also issued a plea on the Late Late show.
