New Zealand safely batted out day five as the second Test against Pakistan fizzled out to a draw in Christchurch today.
The Kiwis were trailing by 95 in the first innings and were 196 for one second time round when play was halted 40 minutes early.
Mark Richardson remained 73 not out with Mathew Sinclair on 50. The pair put on 127 for the second wicket.
Sinclair claimed the man-of-the-match award for his 204 in New Zealand's first-innings total of 476 - his second double hundred in Test cricket.
It was a Test of centuries on a flat wicket with Pakistan's batsmen notching three of their own in their total of 571 for eight declared.
Yousuf Youhana top-scored with 203 while Inzamam-ul-Haq hit 130 and Saqlain Mushtaq 101 not out. It was the off-spinner's first Test century.
Pakistan lead the series 1-0. The third and final Test begins in Hamilton next week.
