New Yorkers today woke to newspapers filled with reminders of the terror attacks on the city six months ago.
The morning papers concentrated on last night's two-hour CBS documentary 9/11, and plans to commemorate the anniversary.
They also have upbeat editorials of how the city is fighting back from the attacks.
The New York Daily Newsfront page features a photo of a firefighter who appeared in the documentary along with the headline, 'Inside Hell'.
Its editorial says: "Tonight at dusk, look toward the southern skies. Look up at two ephemeral towers and think of what they signify. Not merely buildings, but oh so many bright, shining lives.
"These lights symbolise the torch New Yorkers carry forward: one of hope and determination and adamant refusal to be defeated by a murderous enemy or by our own wounds. Like the lights, we the living, and those who died, are together a part of a wondrous city, reaching ever for the stars."
The New York Postreveals that workers at Ground Zero have just uncovered a fire engine buried when the north tower collapsed.
Its own editorial advises the city to look forward, saying: "Six months ago this morning, the terrorists of radical Islam brought their war on the West to America. New York was particularly hard hit. Today will be a day of remembrance - as if anyone could ever forget."
The New York Timescalls today a 'Day of Solemn Reminders'.
Newsday's take on the documentary is headlined, 'Watching Horror Through Tears." It adds: "The horror and the hurt hit New Yorkers with a new wallop last night as if six months hadn't passed."
