THE seasonally adjusted unemployment figures for Northern Ireland in August show a rise of 800 in those out of work compared with the previous month. The unadjusted figure shows an increase of 1,759.
This represents an unemployment rate of 12 per cent. However, when the seasonal factors are taken into account, the rate is 11.3 per cent. The trend over the past three months is an average increase of 600 out of work, and this year is the first time in three years that the seasonally adjusted total has risen over the year.
The total of 87,500 out of work does not include the 28,250 people in Training and Employment Agency schemes.
