Seoul - North and South Korea strove to find topics to agree on yesterday while the North's demand for free electricity and the return of political prisoners hampered their first talks in six months.

A spokesman, Mr Kim Hong-Jae, said both sides were close to agreeing to reactivate some inter-Korean projects, including the rebuilding of a cross-border railway, a joint anti-flood scheme and sports exchanges.
