Leaving Cert - Technical Drawing: Teachers have responded positively to this paper; most felt confident that their students would be comfortable with it.

About 7,000 students take this subject. Many of these would proceed to engineering and other courses at third-level. Many would take courses in the Institutes of Technology.

One teacher, Mr Patsy McVicar, the TUI subject representative, said yesterday's paper was very similar to those in previous years. There were no hidden dangers for students who had done their work, he said. One question on roadway development was regarded as being topical and relevant.

A new syllabus for the subject is now being prepared. It is hoped that this will help to make the subject more accessible to female students.
