A new Severn-class lifeboat was named at Ballyglass Lifeboat Station, Co Mayo, by the British ambassador, Dame Veronica Sutherland, at the weekend. The vessel, Bryan and Gordon, is the largest and most expensive type in the RNLI fleet, at 17 metres in length and costing £2 million.
