DIY retailer B&Q has announced plans to open its second Irish store at Belgard Road, Tallaght, in Dublin.

The new 5,964-square-metre store, which will generate 100 jobs, is due to open in October 2003.

The first Irish B&Q store in Liffey Valley has just celebrated its first anniversary and, according to a statement from the company, suprassed all expectations over the first year.

Since it opened, the company has employed an additional 45 people to meet consumer demand and now employs 225 people in Liffey Valley.

In the next four years, B&Q says it plans to create over 1,000 more jobs in the Republic of Ireland as it rolls out its expansion programme.
