Star hurdler Ned Kelly is expected to run at the Down Royal Festival of Racing on Friday.

Trained by Edward O'Grady, Ned Kelly has been entered for the IR£18,000 Anglo Irish Bank hurdle over two miles.

O'Grady said: "The possibility is that he will run. I'm hoping to get Norman Williamson to ride."

Ned Kelly won six hurdle races last season and is expected to be a leading candidate in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham next March.

Also entered in the Down Royal race is the Willie Mullins-trained Joe Cullen who won the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in 2000 when Ned Kelly was second.
