Navan appoints new CEO and wins licence

Navan Mining has appointed Mr Laurence Marsland as its new chief executive. Mr Marsland joins Navan from Gabriel Resources.

Navan Mining has appointed Mr Laurence Marsland as its new chief executive. Mr Marsland joins Navan from Gabriel Resources.

Mr Marsland (47) has 22 years experience in the mining industry. He is a non-executive director of European Goldfields, a Canadian listed resources company and is a mechanical engineer with a MSc in Management from Stanford University.

Navan also announced today that its Bulgarian subsidiary, Balkan Mineral and Mining has been awarded a mining licence in the Perunika mineral field.

The Perunika licence, which comprises an area of 128 square kilometres is contiguous with the Krumovgrad licence and covers the north-east extension of the outcropping breccia-conglomerates that host the Ada Tepe mineralisation.

Geological data is available from previous exploration by the Bulgarian State and preliminary research of the Perunika area will be focussed on a detailed analysis of this material.

Drilling and trenching on the Krumovgrad licence was reduced for the winter period as an exceptionally large fall of snow and subsequent drifting brought all operations to a standstill from early December until late January.
