North Korea confirmed it fired artillery today near a disputed sea border with the South as a part of military drills and warned that there would be more.

"No one can argue about the premeditated exercises staged by Korean People's Army units in waters of the North side," the North's KCNA news agency quoted the general staff of the country's army as saying.

"Such firing drill by the units of the KPA will go on in the same waters in the future, too," the official said.

The two Koreas have a barrage of artillery pointed at each other. They have fought two deadly naval battles near the disputed sea border over the last decade and had a brief naval firefight there about three months ago.
