Murder charge after Chinese man's killing

A man has been charged with the murder of a Chinese man during a burglary of a house last week.

A man has been charged with the murder of a Chinese man during a burglary of a house last week.

Derek Wade (25), of Church Avenue, Rialto, is accused of killing Zhi Song contrary to common law at Mr Song's house at Reuben Avenue, Dublin, on June 29th.

Yesterday in Kilmainham District Court, Det Sgt Joseph Crowe told Judge John Coughlan he charged Mr Wade in the presence of his solicitor, Terry Hanahoe.

The court heard that Mr Wade made no reply to the charge.

The defendant was granted free legal aid, and Judge Coughlan remanded him in custody to Cloverhill District Court on July 12th.
