A try in injury time for Castres means that the French side will top pool 4 in the European Cup. Munster will now definitely have an away tie for the quarterfinals while Castres will have to wait on other results to see if they have a home quarterfinal.
Munster, who had failed to play anywhere near their best, had brought themselves to within a couple of minutes of winning the group.
Despite trailing 16-13, Munster would have still won the group if they had lost to Castres, but a soft try from substitute Olivier Sarramea three minutes into injury time gave the group to Castres on points difference.
