Sao Paulo - Brazil yesterday moved to evacuate a notoriously violent youth prison after a gruesome riot in which inmates killed four boys and chopped up one of the corpses.

Sao Paulo's Governor, Mr Mario Covas, ordered the evacuation of the 830 teenage prisoners, who were threatening to rebel again as they stewed in a space meant for about 200.

An 18-year-old prisoner at Brazil's youth correction centre in Sao Paulo yesterday pleaded guilty to beheading an inmate during Monday's bloody prison riot, local television said.
